What is a PCSO?

PCSOs spend time talking to people so that they can help them

Have you heard of a PCSO? Do you know what they do?

PCSO stands for Police Community Support Officer and they provide valuable support to the police force.

Knowing the people who work, visit or live in the area they work in is important for a PCSO, so the PCSO spends time talking with people and getting to know them better.

PCSOs have their own special blue uniform so that it's clear to the public who they are.

The PCSOs help collect useful information that can help prevent a crime from happening or can help catch a criminal.

A PCSO can also take notes or statements from members of the public. This is when they write down what someone saw or what they said.

This statement can be useful evidence and a PCSO could then give this evidence in court if necessary, to help solve a crime.
